The Hotel is located a few blocks from the city center in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. We arrived in a larger group but we welcomed well. Our porter Marcel welcomed us saying “Welcome to your home away from home.” Indeed we did feel at home from the comfortable twin beds in an executive suite to exclusive access to the executive lounge where drinks and snacks where available till a certain time.
Located on the Mezzanine floor the Executive Lounge, Gym and the Pool area where the only areas serving Alcohol at the hotel. The Hotel is in the Muslim district of Cape Town.
Overall the Hotel is not that bad but we doubt the 4 star rating in terms of overall experience. After a few days we didn’t feel welcome and we did have an incident where we forgot our money in the room and we return to find all intact but for a few hundred dollars. We declined to investigate further to avoid being treated somehow should we discover there was an incident.
The staff are friendly and always ready to assist you especially the ones on the Mezzanine floor. The cleaners not so nice but they are hardworking sometimes they would forget to replace the Bath Towels which makes me wonder if they recycle your old Bath Towel. TV programming is very limited but overall the room was nice and cozy plus it had an executive desk for those doing business on the go.
Complimentary Wi-Fi also was one of the perks and a breakfast buffet included. Breakfast was the same throughout so really it is up to you to switch it up.
Overall we would rate this hotel 7 over 10.
The longer you stay there the more uninvited you seem. We did find the very sensitive keys quite annoying as we often had to re-key them and at the end of the stay the pleasant smile and “no problem” translated to being charged. Not to talk of the door men sharing personal party information with taxi drivers. They actually told us where we were from which is a little shady for the security conscious. My advice is if you absolutely have to stay only a few days.
