People We Love: Novak Djokovic

Welcome to February The Month Of Love!

We chose Novak Djokovic not only because he is the current World #1 in Tennis but because of his consistency and drive to win regardless of the situation. He also shares the same birthday with my brother.

Djokovic was born in Serbia in 1987, he began playing tennis at age 4, and was sent to train in Germany at age 13.  After a steady ascent to the top levels of the sport, he won the Australian Open in 2008 and led the Serbian national team to its first Davis Cup win in 2010. In 2011, he claimed three of four Grand Slams and compiled a 43-match winning streak en route to the world’s No. 1 ranking. With his first French Open win in 2016, he became the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all four major titles at once. The serbian national  who is only 31 has won 15 Grand Slam titles in his career and he has won 846 times.  He recently  defeated Rafael Nadal to win this year’s Australian Open.

Our favorite quote from him

“My father never talked about the sacrifices that the family made for me.”
